What our support workers wear

A guide to the AXIS Supports Disability Support Worker Dress Code Policy.

Clothes and footwear

Wear closed shoes with slip-resistant soles. Choose clean, comfortable, modest clothes that let you move freely. Avoid loose clothing that can be grabbed, low-cut tops, very short skirts or shorts, and clothing with offensive or inappropriate messages or images.

Hair, nails, jewellery and hygiene

Secure long hair and keep nails short and clean. Long or artificial nails, hoop earrings and dangling jewellery are prohibited under the policy. Keep other jewellery to a minimum and avoid strong fragrances.

Weather, safety and cultural dress

Choose layers in cold weather and breathable clothing when it is warm. Bring a hat and sunscreen for outdoor activities. Use the protective equipment required by the participant’s support plan, a risk assessment or infection control. Cultural and religious clothing is welcome when it is safe for the work. Discuss any adjustments with your supervisor.
